Flowing like
liquid are full length bellowing dresses that adorn ballet
trained models as they leap into the air. Dramatic photos
of surreal sunsets and lightning storms are flawlessly
merged with the models into theatrical, almost biblical
images. This describes Christopher Borgman's latest work,
now showing at F8, which was inspired by several visits
to the Miami City Ballet. He prefers not be labeled a
fashion photographer, rather an artist that includes
fashion in his photography.
Since his arrival to Miami just 2 years ago, this talented
photographer/artist has already created quite a buzz
in the fashion and advertising circles. With his unique
style and creative flair, he’s become one of the
areas hottest new photographers. Christopher's work has
already been featured in several editorials, ad campaigns,
and CD covers. A Texas native with little formal training
Christopher's influences range from Salvador Dali to
Lucas Samaras to Joel-Peter Witkin. More than just a
photographer, his use of digital cameras and computers
enable him to create and manipulate beyond the limitations
of traditional photography. After working in New York
City shooting soon-to-be Supermodels, Christopher moved
to Mexico City. There he worked for magazines and record
labels photographing such celebrities as Lucero, Mana´ and
Ricky Martin. He was also the feature cover story in
both of Mexico's premier competing photography magazines,
the first ever to be given that honor. His cover of Miami's
Lincoln Road Magazine won the Gold Ozzy Award for "Best
Use of Digital Imagery." Recently, former Supermodel
and actress Lauren Hutton commissioned Christopher to
shoot her cosmetics campaign after seeing his editorial
work in LA. He also teaches photography and advanced
Photoshop teqniques at the Miami Ad School.
Christopher's work experience includes Virgin Records,
EMI Latin, Narada/Back Porch Records, Sony Discos, WEA
Latina, BMG Latin, Miller Lite, Coca Cola, Philip Stein
Watches, Hohner Accordions, and JC Penney. He's photographed
over 25 CD covers and was photographer, art director,
and graphic designer on a Grammy Award winning CD. His
editorials and ad campaigns have appeared in many US
and Latin magazines including W, In Style, Billboard,
Oprah, Golf Digest, Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road, Loft,
Complot and Vogue de Mexico.
When he’s not working, Christopher likes to mountain
bike and play racquetball.
